Showing vs Telling
Showing vs. telling (another favourite element of mine) allows the reader to get an effective description of the characters or setting and atmosphere when you ‘show’ rather than ‘tell’.
So instead of describing a scene or event to the reader, show them by using the five senses—sight (visual), sound (auditory), touch (kinesthetic), taste (gustatory) and smell (olfactory)—to bring your characters to life so they (the readers) can share their experiences.
